“Avec le bruit sont nés le désordre et son contraire: la musique. Avec la musique sont nés le pouvoir et son contraire la subversion.”
“If these considerations began to command our musical lives and even become the basis for musical appreciation and cultural critique, then the power of those who wish to do things to others is challenged by the determination of those who choose to do things with others"
“Improvisation is viewed by many as facilitating direct intervention in political, social, economic and scientific discourses, promoting an awareness of intercultural and transnational discourses. […] The political implications of improvisative activity include an understanding of how improvisation is framed by both dominant and subaltern peoples.”

TEMPO al TEMPO
November 6-7-8, Bruxelles

Quincaillerie du Temps Present
After 10 years the collective INaudible, the Brussels improvised music organisation, is focusing its annual festival on improvisation Sons Libérés 2015 (hereafter SL 2015) to the Artivism.
Artivism means a combination of ‘art’ and ‘activism’. Artivism developed in recent years while the antiwar and anti-globalization protests emerged and proliferated. In many cases, artivists attempt to push political agendas by the means of art, but a focus on raising social, environmental and technical awareness is also common.
In fact, the issue has been already in the air for some time, not only among us and not just here in Brussels, but a little bit everywhere. The reasons are many and articulate. We live in an increasingly complex and uneven world and it is difficult (and, in our opinion, also wrong) consider each artistic practice and its aesthetics as something extraneous, separated and / or NOT interconnected with the political and social context.
The theme proposed this year is 'tempo al tempo', meaning a reflection on time and taking into account, within our artistic research social, political, cultural and personal issues. In particular,we imagine a dynamic IN/OUT (internal/external): during the 3 days of the festival, a series of OUT performances and/or audio/video recordings (made in different external locations where the time is important) will be used IN (in the concert hall) to improvise. At the same time, a special attention will be given to do things together with our audience.
